alone in the kitchen with an eggplant

When I am not reading Nancy Drew, I am reading this collection of essays compiled by Jenni Ferrari-Adler all about what a person cooks and eats when all alone. I love it! It makes one glory in making one’s own dinner to eat all by oneself!

My favorite quote from the book so far:
“whenever i fall in love, i begin with potatoes. sometimes meat and potatoes, but always potatoes. i have made a lot of mistakes falling in love, and regretted most of them, but never the potatoes that went with them.”
