the young girls of rochefort

I caught this movie quite serendipitously on this channel that plays nothing but independent films. I am so glad I did. It is filled with beautiful colors that never seem to clash but always coordinate against the beautiful backdrop of a pastel colored town in France. Conversation flows into song and movements into dance, but it is all done in perfect happiness. The actors seem to believe in what they are doing, and the movie is filled with a beautiful sort of childlike innocence.

The entire movie revolves around chance, from the first encounters of lovers to the serendipity that connects all the characters in a beautiful web of color, song, and love. Maybe chance is what makes the world go round, for life does seem to be filled with lovely particulars that occur at serendipitous times by chance.
